Beam Saber V0.41 Is LIVE!
Beam Saber V0.41 is live!
Changelog for V0.41
● Removed “Cloak & Dagger” from the Envoy form fillable spreadsheet and replaced
with “Cool Under Pressure.” Guess I had missed that when updating it last.
● Corrected the Pilot Creation doc so that it says that pilots get 3 additional vehicle
points, rather than the old 4 points.
● Corrected the Vehicle Creation doc so that Manipulate is in the Acuity actions, and
Maneuver is in the Expertise actions.
● Updated the macros in the Playtester Resources to be up to date with the current
vehicle actions.
● Reworded More Than Meets The Eye to hopefully be a bit clearer.
● Reduced the amount of Action Points modified by More Than Meets The Eye from 4
to 3 because it hasn’t been changed since Modify and Analyze were removed.
● Added a new GM Goal about maintaining the safety of everyone at the table.
● Added a new Player Principle about protecting everyone at the table.
● Added to the Tick A Clock Move advice that doing so is a way to stay honest about
inflicting consequences without directly harming the pilots because adding 3 ticks will
almost never be as bad as inflicting a Level 3 Harm.
● Corrected the Logistics digital character sheet so that Renegades no longer has a
max of 1, and instead has the correct max of 3.
● Corrected the Soldier digital character sheet so that the move “Savage” has been
changed to “Brutal” and matches the core rules.
● Corrected the digital pilot character sheets to have the correct descriptions for
Manipulate and Scan.
● Adjusted the wording of the Resistance section. Still works the same, just reads a bit
tighter.
● Christine put Appendix A into tables to look nicer.
● Changed “cash storage upgrade” to “storage upgrade” in the Cash section.
● Added that the Quarters squad upgrade should be considered when a SCRAMBLE!
entanglement occurs.
● Changed “Devil’s Bargains” to “Collateral Dice” to better fit the game’s theme.
● Changed the example Collateral Dice to include “A Rival shows up unexpectedly.”
● Removed creating Rivals and Allies from the Pilot Creation process, since they can
now be created at any time.
● Changed the rules for Rivals. They now have a Connection Clock and an associated
Belief. Filling the clock grants XP and a question, while struggling because of the
Belief grants XP at the end of session.
● Changed the rules for Allies. They can now be created at any time, by referencing
them during a mission and making an Action Roll.
● Added advice to the Preparing A Mission section for creating Characters.
● Combined the Technician’s Chemist and Mechanic abilities to create the Researcher
ability.
● Added the Simulation ability to the Technician.
● Updated the Technician character sheets to reflect the new abilities.
● Removed “Trauma and Character” from the XP sections of the pilot sheets, and
replaced them with “Scars and Quirks.”
● Added advice to the GMless Play alternate rules to look at the GM Actions for
direction.
● Changed the Empath’s ability “Share The Burden” to “Carry That Weight” because it
now has an extra effect letting the user push or assist AFTER action rolls.
● Streamlined the rules for App Development.
● The Bureaucrat’s “Connected” ability now gives +1d when declaring an Ally.
● Pilots now get three downtime activities during the downtime phase, instead of two,
because I didn’t account for the added upkeep requirements of needing to maintain a
vehicle AND a pilot. This should free up some time to let pilots pursue long term
projects, schmoozing, and other non-maintenance activities.
● Vendettas now reduce the number of downtime activities by 1 instead of reducing
them TO 1.
● Added a tip for GMs to combine the narrative of multiple downtime activities to save
time if necessary.
● Renamed the Upgrade downtime activity to Enhance, and the Upgrade track to the
Enhance track, because “upgrade” already refers to other mechanics.
● Removed the materiel cost from the Enhance downtime activity.
● When a Connection Clock fills it now resets to 1 Tick instead of zero.
● Fleshed out the Lore sections on AWVs, Augmented Reality, Programs, Proxies,
Apps, and AIs.
● Changed the Hacker’s ability “Programmer” to the new ability “Crowdsource”
because the Technician’s “Researcher” is flat better and covers the same ground.
